For those looking for a more holistic approach to EMF management, crystals are an obvious choice. They can be used for a variety of purposes. Some crystals are used to heal, others to cleanse, and others, to protect. And they have been around for thousands of years — over 6,000, to be exact.

Granted, EMF protection is a relatively new use for crystals. Little, if any, scientific research has been performed on the subject at the time of this writing. Still, anecdotal evidence suggests that these stones could make a real difference, especially for hypersensitive individuals.

If you’re interested in trying crystals for EMF protection, try to find one or more of the following stones.

10. Hematite

Hematite

Although the hematite you find in the store is often shiny and black, this rock is actually more of a reddish-black color. The red is due to hematite’s high iron content. For the purposes of EMF protection, either raw hematite or polished stone will do. If you’re looking for a hematite stone in nature, they are common and found just about everywhere, often mixed in with dirt and other rocks. They are also pretty common in rock shops and metaphysical stores.

Hematite is a stone of grounding and balance. It is thought to help cleanse the blood of impurities, which is likely one reason why it often shows up in connection with EMF radiation. To use hematite to protect yourself, you can either carry around a stone or wear hematite jewelry. Rings, necklaces, and bracelets are all fairly common and inexpensive.

9. Pyrite

Otherwise known as fool’s gold, pyrite is a gold-colored, shiny mineral, often found as flecks embedded in other stones. Pyrite is said to be an energizing crystal, with other benefits including mental clarity, increased productivity, and monetary success. It’s also thought to be a highly protective stone, helping shield against both negative energies and environmental pollutants. It’s the latter that’s most relevant to EMF radiation, and that’s why pyrite made our list.

It’s worth noting that raw pyrite can contain compounds that are harmful to humans, so if you do find a piece handle it gently and keep it intact. Your best bet may be to find pyrite in a rock shop or metaphysical store.

8. Selenite

Selenite

Selenite is a soft, clear stone. It may have a brownish-green or white tint to it, and often selenite will flake apart when you rub it with your hand. Selenite is used for purification and protection, and its presence is thought to cleanse a space. For that reason, some people believe this mineral may be able to offer protection from EMF radiation.

Selenite can be found just about anywhere, as its one of the more common minerals in existence. You’ll know for certain if you found selenite because of its characteristic softness — simply scrape it with your fingernail and look to see if it leaves a scratch. It’s also one of the cheaper rocks you can purchase, simply because of how common it is. To use selenite for EMF protection, place a chunk or two in each room of the home.

7. Amethyst

Amethyst

Amethyst is a deep, translucent purple color. Amethyst is actually a form of quartz, with impurities from iron and other minerals causing it to take on its signature color. Fairly inexpensive and common, amethyst is easy to find in nature or in a store. Some believe that amethyst has powerful healing properties, making it a useful ally against the damage done to our bodies every day from EMF radiation exposure.

To use amethyst for EMF protection, spread amethyst crystals throughout your home, especially in the bedroom. Sleep is when our bodies naturally repair themselves, so the logic is that having amethyst nearby could help with that process. Amethyst jewelry is also fairly common — consider wearing an amethyst bracelet or necklace to carry this crystal’s healing properties with you throughout the day.

6. Moonstone

Moonstone

Moonstones come in a variety of shades, but most often they are a beautiful, iridescent rainbow color. Some moonstones appear black at first glance, but when held up to the light are actually a shiny, iridescent shade of green. Moonstones can be found at metaphysical shops, and like other gems on this list, it’s not uncommon to find one in nature, as well.

Moonstones are said to be a feminine stone, offering a protective and nurturing energy. They are also thought to help with electromagnetic hypersensitivity. Reportedly, some individuals have noticed a decrease in their symptoms when carrying around moonstones alongside some of the other crystals on this list. While moonstone may not protect you from more serious health effects such as cancer or infertility, carrying one around could at least make symptoms more manageable for those suffering from EHS.

5. Amazonite

Amazonite

Amazonite is a marbled green form of feldspar. This mineral is well-known for its ability to aid in communication, promote good luck, and heal. Amazonite can be found either polished or raw at most rock shops and metaphysical stores. Raw Amazonite is often intergrown with smokey quartz, so if you’re looking for Amazonite in nature keep an eye out for a stone with both green and grey hues.

Amazonite is thought to have properties that help with RF-EMF radiation. Like moonstone, this is especially the case for those with EHS. Wearing an Amazonite bracelet or keeping a piece in your pocket alongside other gems could help keep your symptoms at bay.

4. Green aventurine

Green aventurine is just one variety of the Aventurine stone. Like other gems on this list, it is a form of quartz, this time with a deep, opaque green color. Some have a glittery tint, while others have more of a blue-green hue. The different colors could lead to different properties, but for the purposes of this list, we’re just talking about straight green aventurine.

Green aventurine is a stone for those seeking anxiety relief and help with meditation. Most relevant to EMF radiation, however, is this stone’s supposed ability to absorb environmental pollution. Placing one or more green aventurine stones in rooms throughout your house may help purify the air and lead to less EMF radiation. Consider placing extra stones in the bedroom and in rooms that have a lot of electronic equipment.

3. Orgonite

Orgonite

Orgonite is actually a man-made mineral. The primary ingredient is polyester resin, which is used to suspend various other particles. These particles can be made from anything, so for EMF protection, look for orgonite with some of the other stones on this list. Orgonite and amethyst, selenite, and shungite are all popular combinations.

Orgonite cannot be found in nature, so you must either make it yourself or find it at a metaphysical shop. As it’s not a true rock, most rock shops won’t carry it. Orgonite can be placed around your home, or worn as a pendant for personal protection. Just remember that the orgonite itself isn’t what’s protective — it’s all about the stones it’s mixed in with.

2. Black tourmaline

Black Tourmaline

Black tourmaline can be found in just about every rock shop and metaphysical store out there. Deep black in color with long, cylindrical layers, black tourmaline can also be found outdoors in most parts of the world. Black tourmaline has many uses, including protection and healing. It’s said to be a very grounding stone, as well.

When it comes to EMF protection, black tourmaline is one of the better-known crystals. This stone is sometimes used in conjunction with shungite in products such as EMF paint, as well as in fabrics and shields. To use this gem for protection, you can either wear black tourmaline jewelry or place black tourmaline stones throughout the home.

1. Shungite

Shungite

No list of EMF crystals is complete without a mention of shungite. This mineral has gained attention in recent years for its apparent ability to absorb and purify EMF radiation. Cell phone bump-outs, cases, jewelry, EMF paint, and a variety of other products are made with shungite as the base. Matte black and otherwise unassuming in appearance, shungite has become the most popular crystal for EMF protection.

While shungite hasn’t been studied in relation to EMF radiation, one study did find it effective at protecting hairless mice from skin damage from UVB rays. The study indicates that at the very least, shungite is capable of protecting against one form of radiation.

To use shungite for EMF protection, you can either wear jewelry, find or purchase raw or polished stones, or find products that use shungite as a base.

Combining crystals

When it comes to using crystals for EMF protection, your best bet is to combine crystals. Carrying around a few stones in your pocket, and placing several in each room of the home, will likely yield the greatest benefit. Fortunately, many of these rocks are available for free in nature, or for fairly inexpensive prices at rock shops.

If placing rocks around the home, be sure to focus on any bedrooms, and rooms containing a lot of electrical equipment, such as your home office. Place the stones near computers, routers, smart meters, smart appliances, and other appliances and gadgets. Just be cautious with placing any stones that have magnetic properties (such as hematite) around your computer, as the magnetism in the stone could erase your hard drive.

If making or looking for crystal jewelry, try to find a piece with multiple protective stones. A bracelet with amethyst, black tourmaline, and moonstone, for example, would combine the properties of all three stones, leading to a more effective piece of jewelry than if it just contained one type of stone.

Final thoughts

Crystals are an inexpensive and simple way to help increase your protection from EMF radiation. Be mindful, however, of the fact that they have not been studied extensively for their ability to combat EMF radiation. It’s also worth keeping in mind that you can’t truly test the effectiveness of crystals. Placing crystals around the home will likely not impact a reading from an EMF meter. Rather, crystals generally are used to protect the body from the harmful effects of EMF radiation — something you can’t exactly measure with a device.

For that reason, crystals shouldn’t be used as a frontline defense against EMFs — rather, they can help supplement what you are already doing. Common sense measures, such as turning your WiFi off, using an RF-shielding cell phone case, and installing a smart meter cover will do a great deal more to lower your home’s EMF levels. But if you’ve already done all you can and are looking for more, crystals may make sense. And if you’re suffering from EHS, crystals, in conjunction with other measures, could help keep your symptoms to a minimum. Top Ten Crystals for EMF Protection
