Top 10 EMF shielding fabrics of 2022

Let’s take a look at some of the more popular fabrics on the market today.

10. SHYZ Radiation Protection/EMF Blocking Fabric

SHYZ Radiation Protection EMF Blocking Fabric

One drawback of SHYZ’s Radiation Protection EMF Blocking Fabric is that it’s not designed for contact with human skin. That makes it great for hanging on a wall, but not so great if your goal is to make a blanket. Nonetheless, this fabric can protect against RF-EMF radiation. It can also help keep your credit card information safe from data theft if your card has a chip. The manufacturer claims that this fabric is useful for military-grade shielding, electronic defense, and blocking out electromagnetic interference. And while it does come in a variety of sizes, it does not protect against ELF-EMF radiation.

9. Naturell EMF Shielding Fabric

Naturell EMF Shielding Fabric

Semi-transparent, Naturell’s EMF Shielding Fabric’s primary purpose is to be made into a protective curtain for your windows, although you could also turn it into an attractive bed canopy. The fabric is made from a blend of cotton, copper, and silver, and it attenuates 35dB at 1GHz. Naturell’s fabric protects against RF-EMF radiation, so it’s better for those more concerned with cell towers and WiFi than power lines. One huge benefit of this fabric is that it’s machine washable. You can even iron it. It is, however, sometimes necessary to purchase more than one curtain in order to achieve a satisfactory level of protection.

8. Blocsilver EMF Protection Fabric

Blocsilver EMF Protection Fabric

If you’re looking for something that claims it can protect you against 5G radiation, Blocsilver’s EMF Protection Fabric is it. Blocsilver’s fabric attenuates 39.7dB at 10GHz. While this may not guard against high-band millimeter-wave 5G, it does at least protect you from the low-and-mid band. This fabric can be washed up to 40 times while still maintaining its effectiveness. Furthermore, it’s breathable and transparent, making it a great choice for a bed canopy. Like the other fabrics on this list, however, Blocsilver’s fabric does not shield you from ELF-EMF radiation. It does, however, seem to be effective at blocking against RF-EMFs when tested with an EMF meter.

7. Nasafes Faraday Fabric

Nasafes Faraday Fabric

Faraday Fabric by Nasafes provides protection from radiation from smart meters and other RF-producing devices. While it also lacks ELF-EMF protection, this fabric actually does create a true Faraday cage. That is because it is made from tiny nickel-coated copper filaments in addition to polyester. The metal mesh creates a Faraday effect. Reviewers of this blanket noted that it was effective at blocking cell phone and WiFi signals. Also worth noting is that this fabric works best when grounded. You can create your own grounding cord using a piece of wire and a clip to attach it to the fabric.

6. LVFEIER EMF Signal Shielding Material

LVEIER EMF Signal Shielding Material

LVFEIER’s EMF Signal Shielding Material is designed to be made into an article of clothing, a laptop or tablet case, an appliance cover, or a blanket. This fabric is softer than some other types of shielding fabrics, and it’s made from a blend of polyester, cotton, and metal fibers. While a single piece of this fabric is on the smaller side, the pieces are easy to splice together, allowing you to create larger items such as bedsheets and tents. Overall, this fabric is a good choice if you’re looking to make clothing or other items.

5. Field’s Fabrics RFID Cloth

Field’s Fabrics RFID Cloth

Field’s Fabrics sells its RFID cloth by the yard, although multiple yards do come as one continuous cut. With a shielding efficacy of 99.9% against RF-EMF radiation, this fabric is ideal for sewing as a lining into your wallet or purse, and other smaller projects. Reviewers noted that it was a little stiff at first, but the fabric does soften up over time. Note that while this fabric may be machine washable, it also may not stand up to the heat in a dryer.

4. Amradield Earthing Grounding Anti-Radiation EMF RF Shielding Fabric

Amradield Earthing Grounding Anti-Radiation EMF RF Shielding Fabric

In addition to shielding from EMFs, this fabric is anti-bacterial, anti-microbial, and anti-static. Perfect for the practice of Earthing (which, if you’re not familiar, involves making contact with the Earth’s surface, either with your bare feet outside or a metal grounding mat indoors), this fabric is sold per meter. Amradield’s Earthing Grounding Shielding Fabric is made from a blend of copper, nickel, and polyester.

3. EMR Shielding Solutions EMF Shielding Sheet

EMR Shielding Solutions EMF Shielding Sheet

The EMF Shielding Sheet from EMR Shielding Solutions attenuates 80dB at 1GHz. It’s fairly lightweight, as well, weighing in at 85 g/m2. Like some other fabrics on this list, this fabric can be grounded for even better results. This particular fabric would be a little stiff if your goal was to make it into clothing or a blanket– it’s definitely geared more towards industrial usage. That being said, you can integrate it into the construction of your home. It’s intended to be used in drywall constructions and underneath the flooring.

2. Amradield Copper Fabric

Amradield Copper Fabric

The second Amradield product to make our list, their copper fabric is made from straight copper and polyester. It even has a copper-gold color. Amradield’s copper fabric has an average attenuation of 85dB at 30Mz to 18GHz. Because of the copper inside the fabric, it does create a Faraday cage when used properly. The manufacturer also claims that it’s great for sewing and easy to cut, making this fabric an excellent choice for just about any application.

1. Mission Darkness TitanRF Faraday Fabric

Mission Darkness TitanRF Faraday Fabric

If you want the best fabric out there, you can’t go wrong with TitanRF Faraday Fabric from Mission Darkness. Offering military-grade protection from RF-EMF radiation, the standard bundle even comes with Mission Darkness conductive adhesive tape — useful for connecting multiple strips of fabric together. TitanRF Faraday Fabric is tested and certified by Keystone Compliance, so you know you’re getting a quality product. The manufacturer does note, however, that the fabric is most effective when a triple layer is applied. Check out this video to learn more about Mission Darkness Titan RF Faraday Fabric and other products you can use to build your own Faraday cage.

Where to use EMF shielding fabric

EMF shielding fabric can be used in any room of the home. Of particular importance, however, are the bedrooms. When you sleep, your body repairs itself from damage done throughout the day, and this includes the damage done from EMF radiation. By giving yourself a break from radiation exposure while you sleep, your body is better able to repair itself.

To use EMF shielding fabric in the bedroom, you could use the fabric to fashion a blanket if you’re crafty. If the bedroom wall is opposite a smart meter, or the room picks up a neighbor’s WiFi signal, you could also hang the fabric from the wall. This way it can serve as a barrier between the radiation and your bedroom.

EMF shielding fabric can be draped over WIFi routers, cell phones, and other devices to provide temporary and immediate relief from EMF exposure. At least, if your fabric is effective. Let’s look at how you can test it.

Testing your fabric

If you don’t already have an EMF meter, you’ll need one for this. We usually recommend the TriField TF2, a high-quality meter capable of picking up electric, magnetic, and RF radiation. As this meter is a little on the pricey side, the MeterK is a more budget-friendly option you may want to consider, as well. For more help on choosing an EMF meter, check out our guide to the best EMF meters for any budget.

Once you’ve decided on an EMF meter, you can begin testing your fabric. First, test the levels without the fabric installed. In other words, if you’re draping the fabric over your WiFi router, first check the router’s levels without the blanket. If you’re hanging the fabric on an interior wall, check the room’s levels in various positions without the fabric.

Once you have your levels sans-fabric, install the fabric in the desired location. Then, re-check your levels. If the fabric is working, they should drop significantly. If they haven’t it’s possible the fabric is faulty. It’s also possible, however, that it’s not positioned correctly. Check and make sure there are no gaps, holes, or rips in the fabric that could allow a signal to penetrate through. If there are, fix the issue and then re-check the EMF levels. And if not, consider reaching out to the manufacturer.

Closing thoughts

EMF shielding fabrics can be used in a variety of ways to keep you and your family safe from the harmful effects of EMF radiation. Whether you’re concerned about radiation from a smart meter or just want to make your own blanket at night while you sleep, EMF shielding fabrics can help. Top 10 EMF Shielding Fabrics of 2022
